Internal positive controls (IPCs) for quantitative PCR
Internal positive controls are essential for PCR quality control. Our ready-to-use IPCs are optimized for all common PCR programs and assay temperatures and are available with various fluorescence dyes to match the needs of most instruments.

Quality control is often an underestimated issue for quantitative PCR analyses. Positive controls and negative controls (no template control, NTC) are usually included in the analysis of unknown samples. However, these controls are essential but not sufficient to confirm a negative result. An internal positive control is required to prove that a sample is actually "free of organism X". This type of control is included in the same well as your sample reaction, and only a positive IPC guarantees that the PCR reaction of, for example, a negative sample, was not inhibited by any compound that was co-isolated with your sample DNA. BioTrac's IPC reagents are simply added to your quantitative PCR reaction; it is not necessary to change your preferred and well-established PCR mixtures.
Our IPCs cover a large range of annealing temperatures and/or elongation temperatures and perform perfectly with most PCR programs. Nevertheless, different types are available for high- and low-temperature programs and different fluorescent dyes (according to your real-time PCR instrument) can be requested.
